The date of the issue will be followed by the items from that issue. The newspaper was printed on Saturday. 8 Jan. 1916. Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harrison last Thursday. (Page 6)

15 Jan. 1916. Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. P.R. Heily early Tuesday morning. (Page 5)
Birth - A 9 pound boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wardrip at the Lee Wardip home north of Columbus Wednesday morning. (Page 5)
Marriage - In the presence of a few immediate relatives, Hugh Heily and Elizabeth Dolan, two popular young people of Shane Ridge, were united in marriage Tuesday morning, at the spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Patterson. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Ft. M.T. O'Brien. (FS p. 4)
Death - Mrs. Joshua Herington Is Called To Final Reward, Death claimed Mrs. Joshua Herington Sunday evening. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church, the Rev. W.H.L. Marshall officiating. Alta J. Wing was born in Brown county, Illinois, Aug. 10, 1877. She married Joshua Herington in Kansas on March 10, 1892. (FS p. 1)

29 Jan. 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Voltz Sunday evening. (Page 5)
Birth - Mr. and Mrs. William Pearsall of Absarokee are the proud parents of a son born to them Monday. (Page 5)

3 Feb. 1916. Birth - A ten pound son was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Morison at the hospital Wednesday morning. Dr. C.A. Gardner attended. (Page 9)
Death - Reed Point Woman Ends Life With Carbolic Acid, Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Starring, 43, who committed suicide at her home near Reed Point this week were held in Columbus Thursday afternoon from the undertaking chapel of B.E. Harris, funeral director. Interment was made in the local cemetery. (FS p. 1)

12 Feb. 1916. Marriage - Ralph Campbell and Teresa m. Flanagan, prominent Absarokee young people, were united in marriage Wednesday morning, at the Commercial hotel, Rev. Ft. M.T. O'Brien officiating. (FS p. 4)
Death - Death of Eli Dell. While visiting at the home of his brother on Shane Ridge, Eli Dell, 60, succumbed to an attack of locomotor ataxia. The death occured Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dell. Funeral services were Thursday morning at the Dell home, with Rev. Grant of Laurel officiating. The body was brought to Columbus and forwarded to Petoskey, Mich., where interment will be made. (FS p. 4)
Death - As a result of an attack of bronchial pneumonia, Christ Peterson, 71, a bachelor residing on Grove creek, died at the Jay hotel in Absarokee, Thursday morning. The deceased was born at Holstein, Germany, in 1845, but for many years has been a resident of Montana. He was without relatives in this country. Interment in the local cemetery, services at the grave. (FS, p. 4)

19 Feb. 1916. Death - Well-Known Basin Matron Is Victim Heart Failure, Mrs. Sophia Slough, 68, died Wednesday of last week. Funeral services were held at the grave in the local cemetery where interment was made Saturday afternoon. The deceased was born in Germany in 1848. The family located at Springfield, O., where she was married to Abraham Slough in 1856. (FS, p. 1)

26 Feb. 1916. Birth - Ross Williams, who is at present a tenant on the farm of Ralph Maarsingh, is considerably interested in the late visit of the stork to his home and Ross informs your correspondent that this important event has not been announced yet in either of the county papers. The newcomer is a bright baby girl which arrived on the 9th inst. (Page 7)
Marriage - Emi Rainvier and Helen F. Hale, both of Carreyville, Wyo., secured a marriage license in Columbus last Saturday and were wedded by Justice John Bohn. They will make their home in Wyoming. (Page 6)

4 Mar. 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Bruce Sunday. (Page 5)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Kunkle of Park City, the early part of the week. (Page 5)
Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rodgers of the Whitebird bench, Tuesday night. (Page 5)
Marriage - A marriage license was issued to John L. Blackford and Mrs. Martha Mears, both of Dean, by clerk of court, G.B. Iverson, Tuesday. (Page 5)
Marriage - Word was received at this office of the marriage of Oscar Brown and Miss Ada Pierce which occured in Billings last Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Brown are two well-known young people of this neighborhood and the Democrat joins their many friends in extending congratulations. (Page 4)
Death - Edward Biglow Succumbs To Attack Heart Failure, Heart trouble caused the death of Edward Biglow, 34, a homesteader from near Fishtail, Monday at the hospital in Columbus. He is survived by his parents and four sisters. Funeral services were conducted at Absarokee Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. Cross officiating. Interment was made in the Rosebud cemetery. The deceased was born in Lewis and Clark county. (FS p. 1)

11 Mar. 1916. Birth - Lake Basin - Mrs. Art Marsden arrived home from the Columbus hospital last week. Art is said to be handy taking care of his little girl. (Page 6)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. David Brown last Saturday night at their home on Keyser creek. (Page 7)

18 Mar. 1916. Marriage - Barley Briefs - Harvey Halvorson will return from Neuman Grove, Nebr. this (week) with a new bride. (Page 6)
Death - Mildred Thiel, aged 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. EArl Thiel, succumbed Thursday, March 9th, after a short illness from pneumonia. The funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afternoon by Rev. W.H.L. Marshall. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Besides her parents, the little girl leaves a brother, Lloyd, aged 4, and a sister, Edna, aged 1. (Page 7)

25 Mar. 1916. Birth - An 11 1/2 pound son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Klock at the hospital Saturday morning. (Supplement page 2)
Death - Death Angel Calls Mrs. J.T. Sayles To Final Reward, Mrs. J.T. Sayles, aged 61, died of diabetes Sunday morning at the sheriff's residence in Columbus. The body was taken to Park City Wednesday morning where funeral services were held from the Lutheran church, with the Rev. Setzer officiating, assisted by the Maccabee lodge, of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Park City cemetery. Augusta Carolina Sayles was born at Volkitzville, N.Y., ??? 25, 1856. In 1889 she was united in marriage to J.T. Sayles at Joplin, Mo. (FS p. 1)

8 Apr. 1916. Birth - George Curtis and Mrs. Curtis are the proud parents of a 10 pound girl that arrived at their home Monday. (Page 7)
Death - Apoplexy Cases Death Aged William R. Kirkwood, William R. Kirkwood, 78, died on the homestead of his son near Absarokee Sunday morning. He came from St. Paul and the body was forwarded there for interment. (FS p. 1)
Death - Prominent Pioneer Rancher Succumbs To Heart Failure, The body John C. Haldane, 68, of Rapids was discovered lying in a field Monday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. W.H.L. Marshall with interment in the local cemetery. He was born at Cowie, Scotland, March 4, 1848. Before coming to America he married Jane Cowan. (FS p. 1)

22 Apr. 1916. Birth - A nine and one-half pound son arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stanton Monday. (Page 7)

29 Apr. 1916. Birth - Limestone News - Mr. and Mrs. Milo Richards are the proud parents of a fine baby girl. (Page 5)
Death - Prominent Basin Rancher Passes To Great Beyond, Diabetes caused the death of Earl Hungerford, 22, a homesteader of the Lake Basin, in Columbus Wednesday. Funeral services were conducted Friday afteroon at the Congregational church. He was born at Little Cedar, Iowa, January 6, 1894. (FS, p. 1)
Death - Busteed Items - Reuben Brownlee, one of the farmers north of here, passed to the great beyond Friday evening after a short illness. He leaves a sorrowing wife and three children. The remains were interred in our new cemetery, which is located on Six Shooter creek, Sunday afternoon. (Page 5)

6 May 1916. Birth - A ten pound daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Kucera Sunday morning. (Page 5)
Marriage - William J. Murphy and Miss Marjorie L. Schultz were married in Big Timber on Saturday. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Wilder at the Methodist parsonage. (FS p. 4)

13 May 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Patterson of Shane Ridge at the hospital Monday morning. (Page 7)

20 May 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. George A. Gibbs, Tuesday afternoon. (Page 5)

27 May 1916. Marriage - Miss Ida May Ehrenriech married superintendent of the Columbus schools Julian D. Ray in Billings Wednesday. The ceremony was performed in the parsonage of Rev. George Mecklenberg. (FS p. 4)

3 June 1916. Death - P.J. Patten received word from Livingston Saturday of the death of Mr. Mark, who has been at his ranch this past year doing his carpenter work. Mr. Mark went to Livingston two weeks ago to visit a sister, and also to look after his ranch there. He was taken sick Friday, and passed away the same evening at 10:30. He had not been feeling well for some time, but the news of his death came as a shock, as he expected to return in about two weeks. He was of a pleasant and amiable disposition and made many friends while here. Mr. Patton left Sunday morning to attend the funeral which will be held in Livingston. (Page 5)

10 June 1916. Birth - Keyser Creek - Mr. and Mrs. Jack Robbins of Lake Basin are the proud parents of a fine ten pound baby boy. (Page 5)
Death - John Brown, Aged Pioneer Passes To Great Beyond, John Brown, 69, died at the Stillwater hospital Monday. He had been a resident of Cooke City. Following the mining camp boom he moved to a ranch near Limestone. John H. Brown was born in New York state. His parents were natives of England. (FS p. 1)

17 June 1916. Death - Mrs. A.D. McVey Answers Call Of Her Divine Creator, Mrs. A.D. McVey, 48, died at the Stillwater hospital Saturday morning. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon in St. Pauls Episcopal church with the Rev. R.J. Jensen officiating. Interment was in the Columbus cemetery. Mary L. Willis McVey was born at Eldorado, Ill., July 25, 1868. In 1886 at White Plains, Mo., she was married to A.D. McVey. (FS p. 1)

24 June 1916. Birth - A 12 pound baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. Irving Adams last Saturday. Dr. Payne was the attending physician. (Page 5)
Marriage - Gladys Manchester and Joseph Weatherson were united in marriage by the Rev. Marsh in Livingston last Friday evening. The young people are well known here, both having graduated from the Columbus high school. (Page 7)
Death - Beloved Matron Answers Divine Call For Reward, Mrs. Martha Denny, 78, died Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Congregational church. Rev. W.H.L. Marshall and Rev. R.J. Jensen will officiate. Interment will be made in the local cemetery. Martha Osborne Denny was born in Cairo, Ill., June 22, 1838. She married Lemuel Denny January 4, 1859 at Albany, Indiana. (FS p. 7)

8 July 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Wilmarth Thursday. (Page 7)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Smith of Columbus, Saturday. (Page 7)
Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Holmgren Wednesday. (Page 7)
Marriages -Cupid Celebrates 4th. With 3 Matches Hurd-Gibson, Malter L. Hurd of Columbus and Mary Daisy Gibson or Williams, Iowa, were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents in Williams last Thursday. The Reverend Wardle of the Williams Methodist church officiated. (FS p. 1)
Anderson-Harris, Arthur Harris, a rancher on the Hensley creek divide, married Lillie E. Anderson at his old home in New Richland, Minn., last Thursday. (FS p. 1)
Nelson-Brown, Saturday afternoon the marriage of Walter Brown and Hulga Nelson was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents near Columbus by the Reverend Mayer of the Lutheran church at Laurel. (FS p. 1)
Death - Word was received in Columbus of the death of George Fisher, a civil war veteran, and well-known miner of the Cooke City district. The body was found in the man's cabin a few miles from Cooke City and brought there on a sleigh by a party of trail repairers. Fisher recently sold part of his mine holdings for $17,000 to a development company. On the table in his cabin was found a note and $500 in currency. Fisher was well-known in Columbus and prospected in the Cooke City district for the past 40 years. (Page 4)

15 July 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schermer of Reed Point at the hospital here Tuesday afternoon. (Page 7)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Becksead of Columbus, Monday. (Page 7)
Death - Auto Turns Sommersault One Dead; Three Injured, One person died and three were injured Sunday evening when a car was struck by a truck about three-quarters of a mile west of the Rapids school house on the Yellowstone trail. Lon Gill received a fractured skull, resulting in his death. Injured were George Stickler, William Gill and Mrs. William Gill. The body of Lou Gill was forwarded to North Manchester, Ind. for interment. (FS p. 1)

22 July 1916. Birth - East White Beaver - Ira Myers, secretary of the Farmers union, came to the meeting last Saturday night with an unusually broad smile and announced to the members that a fine boy made his appearance at their home Friday night. He reports all doing fine. (Page 6)
Three Weddings -
Cameron-Hibdon, Stanford A. Cameron and Emma L. Hibdon of Billings were married in Columbus Monday afternoon in the Commercial hotel parlor by Justice Walter L. Hurd. (FS p. 4)
John-Bulger, Harry Bulger, a well known business man of Billings and Marion Johnson of Laurel were united in marriage Tuesday by Justice John Bohn in the Wolff's rooms. The couple motored to Bridger, near where the groom has a 640 acre ranch. (Page 4)
Pickering-Brumbugh, Burt C. Pickering and Margaret Brumbugh, both of Billings, were united in marriage in Columbus last Saturday by Justice John Bohn. The couple departed that evening for their home in Billings. (Page 4)

29 July 1916. Death - Opal Polson, 8, died Saturday. Brother Peck gave the sermon at the Keller home Sunday morning. Inerment was made in the Roscoe cemetery. (FS p. 7)

19 Aug. 1916. Birth - Dean - Grandpa and Grandma Harris are wearing a smile from ear to ear as a fine boy, their first grandson, arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harris Monday. Mother and son are doing excellent. (Page 6)

30 Sept. 1916. Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs Peter Peterson of Reed Point, at the hospital here, Tuesday night. (Page 13)

7 Oct. 1916. Birth - East White Beaver - A sweet little girl came to brighten the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson last week. The little lady and mother are in the hospital in Columbus and both are doing fine at last report. Everyone thinks Pete will come out all right too if everything is quiet. (Page 14)

11 Nov. 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Glenney of Columbus, Tuesday morning. Dr. C.A. Gardner was the attending physician. (Page 2)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Jones of Rapids, the early part of the week. Dr. Garner was in attendance. (Page 2)
Birth - Mr. and Mrs. Mandeville are the happy parents of a son born at the hospital Friday. (Page 2)
Death - East White Beaver - David Jones was killed by the overturning of his car Tuesday. (FS p. 7)

18 Nov. 1916. Marriage - Busteed Items - We had a wedding at Prairie Belle Sunday when Ancil Pearson was united in marriage to Ivy Washburn, second daughter of Alfred Washburn. (Page 6)
Marriage - B.E. Harris of Columbus, and Ethel Porter of Boise, Idaho, were united in marriage at the C.W. Laird residence in Laurel, Wednesday afternoon. Reverend Johnson conducted the ceremony. (FS p. 9)

23 Dec. 1916. Birth - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Darrington Monday morning. The Darringtons live of Valley creek. Dr. Payne attended. (Page 2)
Birth - A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Berg at the hospital Sunday morning. Both mother and child are reported to be doing nicely. (page 9)
Marriage - Mrs. Florence Deerhammer and Perry Hungerford, both of the Lake Basin, were married in Billings last week. (FS p. 2)
Marriage - Lucille Stuck and S.G. Hammond were married by Rev. Walter North at the Congregational church in Billings last Friday. Both reside in the Fishtail area. (FS p. 2)
Death - John Yonce Dead, John Yonce, 68, died at his home of Fiddler creek, above Absarokee, last Friday from heart disease. Funeral services were held at Absarokee last Sunday. Interment was made in the Rosebud cemetery. (FS p. 2)
Death - Mrs. Clark Answers Call, Mrs. Mary Clark, 89, passed away last Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.H. Maddox on Grove creek near Absarokee. She was born in 1827 in Tennessee. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.H.L. Marshall at the Congregational church. Interment was made in the local cemetery. (FS p. 2)
